An brand new painting for newly build temples and for temples that wants to change from the current pattern.
Renewal painting of inner and outer sanctuary in Honkaku-ji, Hokkaido. The colors are beautifully painted throughout sanctuaries up to the ceiling.
This work was done in mounting papers in three major steps; first step is to outline details on-site, second step is to paint patterns in outlines format, and third step is to mount painted papers on to constructions.
This work is introduced as an example of renewal work since the finished work is different from former work.
The former work was done directly on wood but the new work was done on mounting papers. In contrast to the former work, the colors on ceiling and pillars become vivid.
First, we measure the construction. The papers will be cut in actural size and colored in studio. Then, they are mounted on to the construction.
Our studio took part of the inner sanctuary of Sensyoji in Nigata Prefecture.
